OLYMPIA — Officials have eased a burn ban in Western Washington, allowing campfires in certain settings starting today. The Washington State Department of Natural Resources said in a news release that recent rains and cooler temperatures across Western Washington prompted the move, which affects areas west of the Cascade Mountains.
The announcement allows for campfires in approved fire pits in campgrounds on Western Washington DNR-protected lands. The campfire ban continues on DNR-protected lands across Eastern Washington. The statewide ban on other outdoor burning also continues.
