Lots of news stories over the past few weeks have talked about how great the economy is doing, with income increases of 4.1 percent in our area.
This is great news for many, as families are able to breathe a little easier. However, one group of folks is still going to be way under that forecast. The projected average Social Security increase for 2017 is going to be $2.50 a month. For my wife and myself, this will come to $60 for the year. We spend more than that each week at the grocery store.
One very sad thing is that the owners of our manufactured home park, even though they have been made aware of our massive Social Security raise, have decided to increase our space rent by almost 14 percent.
Such are our Washington state laws concerning limits on rent increases.
