A house in Vancouver’s Maplewood neighborhood was heavily damaged by fire late Sunday night.

Crews were called to 2905 E. 16th Place at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday and arrived to find flames coming from the back side of the house, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Pete Adams said.

The fire possibly started in the kitchen and spread to the attic and garage, he said.

Nobody was at the house, which was being remodeled, Adams said.

Twenty firefighters worked for about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
