PORTLAND – A judge has sentenced a nine-time DUII offender to one to two years in jail, intensive treatment and probation.

Multnomah County Circuit Judge David Rees gave Steven Jones, 42, his sentence Thursday, saying a shorter jail sentence would allow him to participate in a treatment program. Officials said Jones could be released in less than a year to inpatient treatment.

Prosecutor Mike Botthof urged the judge to put Jones in prison for seven years because he said Jones is a threat to the community. Botthof said Jones has already been sent to alcohol treatment eight times and failed to commit.

Jones was arrested June 16 after he crashed into two parked cars. Police said his blood test that they got four hours later showed his blood alcohol at .26 percent.
