BEND, Ore. — An Oregon hospital caregiver has been fired after inappropriately viewing medical records of nearly 2,500 patients.
The Bulletin reported Thursday that between October and January 2014 the St. Charles Health System caregiver opened files containing patients’ health insurance information, driver’s license numbers, diagnoses and more.
According to the report, the hospital offered yearlong free credit monitoring and identity restoration services to all affected patients.
Officials have declined to name the caregiver, but say she signed an affidavit stating she did not use or share the confidential information.
