Cascade Highlands — Friends of Trees received a $22,500 donation from Whole Foods Market shoppers in Vancouver and Portland through the company’s Community Support Day, in which 5 percent of sales are donated to a local nonprofit.

The money will be used to sponsor five plantings around the Vancouver and Portland area. Friends of Trees volunteers add to the regions greenery through neighborhood plantings, green space restoration and providing tree care.
