Letter: Support Orange for port

By Jan Verrinder, Vancouver
Published: April 29, 2017, 6:00am

I met Don Orange at a 2013 EFSEC hearing. He spoke against the oil terminal plainly, thoughtfully, logically. Among many speakers, he stood out. I learned that he organized Vancouver 101, small-business owners (he’s one) who fear for their livelihoods and health if Vancouver becomes an oil town.

Having lived in oil towns, I understand. Things go wrong. Systems fail. The air stinks — at the very least. We want a port commissioner with encompassing vision: Invite commerce and profit without stealing the future from our next generations. I’m voting for and trust Don Orange. Port. Community. Environment. Future. www.DonOrange.com.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
