Letter: Observe fact of climate change

By John J. Monaco, VANCOUVER
Published: April 30, 2017, 6:00am

In 1750, the world’s population was estimated at 700 million, and it’s now projected to be 9.7 billion by 2050. Think about this — 9.7 billion.

Decaying organic waste produces methane gas; this helps trap radiation and, thus, produces heat. Heat melts tundra and ice that has trapped methane gas. Combine this with carbon dioxide created by combustion of various burned fuels. If this hasn’t contributed in increasing amounts to the acceleration of climate change, what does? Population growth equals more gas; more gas equals more climate change. Not real? I think it is!
