Everson – Authorities say two pot belly pigs and four rabbits died in a barn fire northeast of Bellingham.
The Bellingham Herald reported that fire crews responded to the blaze in Everson on Thursday morning.
Whatcom County Fire District No. 1 Chief Mel Blankers said that when firefighters arrived, the structure was nearly gone.
Whatcom County Fire Marshal Will Anderson said a horse and a pig were able to escape but the other six animals died in the fire.
Anderson said the fire was accidental and likely cause by an electrical short.
