The Timberwolves trailed by as many as 12 in the second quarter, but Heritage coach Karrin Wilson credited her team clamping down defensively in the final three quarters to give the team its first victory.

“We were fortunate to pull out the win,” she said.

Freshman Katie Peneueta had a game-best 17 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks and guard Brianna Gould added 14 points. Peneueta had nine of her rebounds on the offensive glass, and Gould added nine rebounds and five assists.
