Letter: A very misinformed nation

It’s been preached that if you eat fat, you’ll get fat. Bad science. It’s like saying, if you eat tomatoes you’ll turn red. Since the low-fat and diet drinks have been in vogue, our nation has just gotten fatter and fatter.

Science is now showing that carbohydrates and other sugars create obesity, and it’s the fats we eat that burn the sugars that helps keep obesity in check. It’s also true that if one is surrounded by misleading or fake news, one will hate our current president and think our last election was somehow rigged by a nefarious Russian plot, yet to be shown, and that everything this current administration is doing spells disaster for our nation. We are definitely a very misinformed nation.

I understand why there’s so much hatred being spewed by many because of the misinformation they are fed every day. They need to broaden their scope of where they get their information and they’ll find another side of the news they aren’t getting.

And, by the way, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, is doing the job she was elected to do. Those criticizing her probably didn’t vote for her anyway.
