Woodland coach Andrew Johnson called the Prairie Falcons’ shooting performance Friday night the greatest he’s seen at any level — professional, college or high school.

“They would have beaten any team in the state (Friday) the way they played,” the second-year Beavers coach said.

The Falcons hit more 3-pointers (18) than 2-point field goals (12) and got a big night from goard Dante Heitschmidt for a 90-41 nonleague victory in boys basketball at Woodland High School.

Heitschmidt hit a school-record nine 3-pointers for a game-high 31 points.

Heitschmidt had a pair of first-quarter 3s, but it was the third quarter when the 6-foot-3 guard went off.

At one point, Heitschmidt hit five 3s in a row, then another two in the fourth quarter.

Johnson said the defensive focus initially was on leading scorer Kameron Osborn, “and that’s when the other two guys decided to go off.”

“I was baffled,” he said. “I wish I could see the film.”

Braiden Broadbent added 24 points and Osborn had 14.

Johnson credited his team’s defense as one of the better performances of the season, despite falling by 49 points.

“They couldn’t miss, no matter what,” he said.

Isaiah Flanagan had 13 points and Alex Bishop added 11. Tyler Flanagan had seven points and seven assists.
