WSU Extension offers program on reducing Type 2 diabetes risk

Washington State University Extension is offering a series designed to help people reduce their risk of Type 2 diabetes, to lose weight and become more physically active.

The series consists of 12 weekly one-hour sessions followed by four biweekly sessions, ending in seven once-monthly sessions. Class series are held Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. beginning Jan. 18, or on Mondays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 5 at the 78th Street Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St.

Each week attendees will be weighed privately, receive printed materials, learn about food choices and increasing physical activity as well as how to deal with social triggers and emotional barriers to weight loss.
