Letter: U.S. becoming mean-spirited

By Kathryn Hobbie, Vancouver

How is it possible that the people calling the shots in our country seem to care about nothing but their own power and profits? A person who seeks office has to realize that government is for all the people, not just the fat cats; that government is service.

It’s beyond my imagination that the current administration shows no concern for the poor and weak, for a quality education for our children, for the arts, for the future of our planet. The United States is becoming a mean-spirited country, and that is a great loss.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
