Vancouver – The public is invited to learn more about the Lower Columbia region’s national wildlife refuges at an open house in Vancouver.

It will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with short presentations at noon and 2 p.m., on March 4 at the Cascade Park Community Library, 600 N.E. 136th Ave., Vancouver.

Refuge staff and volunteers will talk with the public about wildlife, recreation opportunities, conservation projects and how to get involved. They will also talk about habitat restoration, environmental and cultural education, and other opportunities to engage the public.

The refuges are as near as a 20-minute drive from Vancouver, and offer public lands access, trails, wildlife observation and opportunities to learn about Native American culture.

The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge Complex, Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge and the Columbia Gorge Refuge Stewards are sponsoring the free event.
