Letter: Trump is shameful

By Cora Worcester-Wohlsein, Vancouver

This is in response to Bill Hofmann’s Jan. 7 letter, “Get over it, Make America great.” First of all, we are not whining. We are in shock that Donald Trump, who is so underqualified, could ever be elected as president. Every time I hear him lie, backtrack on everything he’s said, and try to look sincere when he does it, I feel a sense of doom. I have that feeling every time someone is trying to con me into parting with my money, or trying to make me feel inferior to them. It’s how I have had to learn to survive this world.

I am not saying I am smarter than anyone else or pretend to be. I worked hard as a waitress, raised three children, and have seen a lot of changes in my 65 years. I have to rely on my instincts and common sense.

Hofmann says, “Let’s get on board and bring common sense back.” Name-calling, tweeting every thought, belittling and shaming is not the common sense I’ve learned to live by. Some of our presidents have been less than moral, some have been very classy and moral. Trump makes me feel shame, and he’s not in the White House yet.
