Letter: Sad day for America

By Craig Walker, CAMAS
Published: January 22, 2017, 6:00am

January 20 was one of the saddest days in American history. Not only did we lose one of our finest presidents, we gained a thin-skinned, unqualified egomaniac who cares only about his own name. Donald Trump has been busy filling the swamp with mega-rich people who either stand to gain financially from their Cabinet position or whose goal is to destroy the department they oversee.

We could have had an experienced statesman in Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton, but instead we have someone who spews hate and fear and wants to restart the arms race. As a white male, I am only somewhat concerned about losing my rights. It’s tragic that women and minorities can’t say the same.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
