Three second half goals helped the Washington Timbers women’s soccer team eliminate the defending Northwest Premier League champions Spokane Shadow 4-1 in a semifinal match on Sunday at the Polo Grounds in Spokane.

Washougal High grad Ellie Boon scored two goals for the Timbers.

Spokane scored first in the 14th minute, and then it was all Timbers.

Boon’s goal in the 29th minute tied the match, and it stayed tied at the half.

Battle Ground’s Maddison Maffeo broke the tie with a goal off a free kick in the 59th minute, Rylee MacDonald of Camas scored off an assist from Jesse Ray in the 71st minute, and Boon capped the scoring with her second goal in the 80th minute.

The third-seeded Timbers advance to the NWPL championship game next week and will travel to play the regular season champion Seattle Stars, who were 3-0 winners Saturday night against fourth-seeded Fuerza FC.
