Fire investigators said that a blaze last weekend at a Yacolt house was intentionally set.

Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Susan Anderson said that a suspect likely used a handheld open flame to ignite available combustibles in a firewood storage bin at 23805 N.E. Jehnsen.

Firefighters from Clark County Fire District 13 were called to the house at about 10 p.m. on July 22 and arrived to find a water pipe spraying flames.

The burst water pipe helped control the fire and crews had the rest of it out quickly. No injuries were reported.

District 13 Fire Chief Ben Peeler said that the residents of the home were displaced and were assisted by volunteers with the American Red Cross.

Anderson wouldn’t say whether investigators had identified a suspect, but said the investigation into the fire is ongoing.
