A motorcyclist was injured after striking a deer while riding northeast of Salmon Creek on Monday.

Emergency crews responded to a call at about 10:45 a.m. of a motorcycle crash on Northeast 179th Street near Northeast 53rd Avenue, said Tim Dawdy, division chief for Clark County Fire & Rescue.

Upon arriving at the scene, Dawdy said, crews found the man and his motorcycle in the road. The man, estimated to be in his 60s, was riding east on Northeast 179th Street when he veered to avoid the deer, and the motorcycle tipped and slid on its side.

“The deer was limping but got up and ran away,” Dawdy said. The man, whose name was not released, was injured. He was treated by paramedics from Fire District 3 before being transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.
