Camas’ Danny Wing leads six local soccer players to earn all-state honors

Senior midfielder earns spot on Class 4A all-state first team

Six Clark County boys soccer players earned all-state honors from the coaches, led by Camas midfielder Danny Wing.

Wing, The Columbian’s All-Region player of the year, was the only county player to earn all-state first-team honors from the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association.

Wing, a senior, had 20 goals in 16 games for the Papermakers, who reached the state quarterfinals. Wing made the first team at Class 4A.

Battle Ground defender Brandon Palmateer, the 4A Greater St. Helens League player of the year, was selected to the 4A all-state second team, along with Union goalkeeper Brandon Wolter.

Earning honorable mention at Class 4A were Heritage forward Max Basarab and Camas defender Dominic Fewel.

The only other county player to earn all-state honors was Columbia River freshman Jake Connop. The forward, who was the 2A GSHL MVP, made the Class 2A second team.
