Letter: Protect the past

There was an old joke that used to go around that stated, “Looks like the inmates are running the asylum.” Well, it now appears that it has come to pass at The Evergreen State College in Olympia. The minority students have taken over from the school’s president, George Bridges. Somehow, the few now dictate how the school should be run. Every one of these disrupters need to be either told to knock it off or they are expelled.

Like the Taliban, liberals attempt to erase history and destroy heritage whenever they are in power. The past is held in joint custody by every one of us. You don’t own our history. It does not belong to you alone. It belongs to all of us, not just 13 percent of us. You do not get to dictate our heritage for us. You do not get to rewrite, revise, or erase history to suit your own political agenda. You do not get to choose who we honor. We do not accept your self-appointed role as the censors and inquisitors of the past.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
