An adult and a teenager were displaced after an electrical fire in the basement of a north Clark County home Sunday evening.

A man came home to find his house full of smoke and the smoke detector going off, Clark County Deputy Fire Marshal Curtis Eavenson said.

Crews with Clark County Fire District 10 were called to a three-bedroom ranch-style house at 42211 N.E. 118th Ave. just before 8 p.m. Sunday. The power was shut off to the house, Eavenson said, and the two occupants were displaced.

The fire was in a utility room of the basement, Eavenson said, and was most likely caused by an electrical malfunction in an extension cord.

The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in smoke damage, Eavenson said.
