Weather Eye: Get through today’s rain and prepare for heat tomorrow

Many of us dashed between the raindrops once again Monday as another cold trough of low pressure dominated the weather. The good news was that the rain was light, just measurable as of 4 p.m. The bad news was as of 4 p.m. the high temperature was only 54 degrees, some ten degrees below average. We see more rain today before the big warm up.

Yes, believe it or not, Wednesday and Thursday will be the highlights of this year’s weather so far. It looks like winds will line up to bring us highs in the 80s. Then more moisture moves inland later on Thursday, probably starting a few thunderstorms.

The bottom drops out again Friday and Saturday with temperatures well below seasonal highs. Hopefully, this is just a two-day plunge and Sunday and next week rebound.

Looking back at April, we see 4.25 inches of rain fell in the bucket at Pearson Field. That is 1.24 inches above average. And it was yet another cool month with the average mean temperature at 51.2 degrees, nearly one degree below normal. November was the last month with above average temperatures

The National Weather Service has slated today through Thursday as Pacific Northwest Severe Weather Awareness Campaign. The types of weather mentioned include thunderstorms with lightning. For more information, go to their web site at https://tinyurl.com/lcw8fx7.

Get through today and prepare for heat tomorrow. Enjoy!
