Letter: Common sense isn’t blooming

Loved Jim Camden’s column about Washington’s Capitol grounds and its dandelions (“Landscaping talk at Legislature: negotiation blooming?” April 26). Republicans were complaining about dandelions in our Capitol grounds, that the state gardener wasn’t doing his job. They were told the budget was cut 26 percent.

Since Washington state cannot deficit spend, you have dandelions. In Washington, D.C., Congress can deficit spend, so these same Republicans don’t complain about dandelions there. Currently President Trump wants a giant tax cut for corporations (trickle-down baloney).

That America’s $20 trillion deficit under Trump’s plan would double seems of no concern to these same “conservative” Republicans. If Congress could not deficit spend, Republicans would be complaining about dandelions in Washington, D.C., also. Camden has very astutely determined that “dandelions” are the way to fiscal responsibility for Republicans.
