As of Wednesday afternoon, the third day of filing week, 86 candidates have filed to represent the region on local city councils, school boards and as commissioners.

While others were filing for office, Democrat Tanisha Harris announced she would withdraw from the race for Vancouver City Council Position 1. Harris had announced earlier she hoped to fill the seat being vacated by Vancouver City Councilor Jack Burkman.

“The decision to withdraw from this race was not an easy one. However, I will continue to be dedicated to our community and the families living here and I will continue to work toward building a better future for Vancouver and Clark County,” Harris said in a statement. “I have decided to step back to focus on my health and dedicate my full attention to the children and families I serve through my work at the YWCA.”

Harris is a CASA program specialist for YWCA Clark County. Two candidates had filed for the Position 1 seat on Monday: Scott Campbell and Jacob N. Kerr.

In Clark County, city and town council positions will be open, including mayoral races in Vancouver and Washougal; school district director positions; fire, port, cemetery and park district commissioners; and a commissioner position in the Clark Regional Wastewater District, according to information from the Clark County Elections Department.

The chart above shows who filed for office late Tuesday night and on Wednesday, as of late in the afternoon.
