Well, we did it just as predicted here last week, the thermometer Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. hit 90 degrees in Vancouver. The last 90-degree day we enjoyed was August 26, 2016, with 96 degrees. I guess most might not enjoy 90 degrees or hotter but it was a milestone anyway.
After the long, cold winter and spring, I suppose there are those that thought of maybe moving to a sunny place, but then we have a day like Monday and wow. I know it was a tad warm for some, but does it get any better here in the great Northwest?
As I was writing this late Monday afternoon, the winds along the ocean beaches turned from northeasterly to north and northwest, cooling from early highs in the 80s to the cool 60s. That episode would occur overnight locally and today will be much cooler, down to 80 degrees or a few degrees higher.
The culprit is an upper-level low skirting across southern British Columbia. It will switch the winds around, pushing ocean air inland resulting in clouds and cooler Wednesday and Thursday. Still, I don’t see any measurable rainfall outside of some spotty drizzle or a mountain shower.
