Letter: Lawmakers harm would-be grads

Over 15,000 senior high school students in Washington state this year face the possibility of not graduating high school even though they passed all their classes.

This is due to issues with mandatory state testing requirements. There are problems with the test that are creating problems all over the state. The Legislature is trying to fix the problem but time is running out for these high school seniors. There are only days left to come to an agreement. As we typically see, the Republican Senate wants one thing, the Democratic House wants something else. If they don’t act, over 15,000 young adults not allowed to graduate will be suffering for it.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
