This will sound weird, but you won’t leave the Empty Bowls fundraiser hungry. For just $20, enjoy a supper of sourdough and soup ladled into a bowl crafted by local artisans, while enjoying live tunes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at Woodland High School, 1500 Dike Access Road, Woodland. Novice and experienced potters from the Clark College Art Department donated the bowls for this fundraiser aimed at ending hunger. Woodland Action created Empty Bowls as a way to use art to create discussion about economic struggles in Southwest Washington. 360-225-9998 or www.woodlandaction.org/events/empty-bowls.

What if teens ruled the world? Well, it might look something like Teen Takeover from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 9 at Rocksolid Community Teen Center, 12919 N.E. 159th St., Brush Prairie. For students in fifth through 12th grade, there will be pizza, outdoor activities, inflatable obstacle courses, a chance to compete for prizes in a “Fear Factor”-style competition or snap a pic in the VIP photo booth. Teens should bring school ID for age verification; $5. 360-885-2181.

Honor veterans on their day by rocking out. The Harvest Gold Veterans Day Benefit Show combines commemorations of Veterans Day and Neil Young’s birthday (Nov. 12). The event will be 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 11 at Old Liberty Theater, 113 N. Main Ave., Ridgefield. Billy C. Wolf opens with jams from Bob Dylan, before Harvest Gold, a Neil Tribute Band, rocks the stage until 9 p.m. A silent auction follows the concerts. Veterans get in free, and general admission is $12. A portion of general admission will benefit the American Legion. 360-831-4316 or www.harvestgoldny.com.

This qualifies as quite the homecoming: Dr. Michael Barratt, a Camas High School grad who has completed two NASA space flights, will discuss how his education helped him become a NASA doctor and astronaut as part of “Celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week: Lift Off to Innovation.” Barratt will speak from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Pearson Air Museum, 115 E. Fifth St., Vancouver. General admission is $25 and includes hors d’oeuvres. There will be a no-host bar. Columbia River Economic Development Council members get in for $20; college students are free with a student ID. 360-816-6230 or www.nps.gov/fova/learn/historyculture/pearson.htm.

Speaking of homecomings, six young artists from past Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competitions will return to their roots for VSO’s inaugural “Legacy Series” concert. Paul Lee (cello), Hanami Froom (violin), Monica Chang (piano), Symphony Koss (violin), Christopher Yoon (piano), and Nicholas Dill (violin) will perform a variety of pieces starting at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., Vancouver; $10 to $25. 360-816-0352 or www.vancouversymphony.org/event/chamber-music-series-november-performance.

This could be your last chance to see a legend. The on-again off-again retirements of rapper Jay-Z most recently flipped to off again when he decided to release “4:44” in late June. Whether “Hov” turns off his mic permanently after this CD is anyone’s guess, but one thing is for certain: starting at 8 p.m. Dec. 14, the rapper’s 4:44 Tour will grace the Moda Center stage, 1 N. Center Ct. St., Portland. After “4:44” climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Jay-Z landed at second place for all time with 14 No. 1 albums behind the Beatles’ 19 chart-toppers. Chicago rapper Vic Mensa will open for Jay-Z; $27 to $723. 503-235-8771 or www1.ticketmaster.com/jayz-444-tour-portland-oregon-12-14-2017/event/0F0052E59E684E67.

Enjoy entertainment from the most-winning sports team of all time. It’s not the Boston Celtics or the New York Yankees — it’s the Harlem Globetrotters. Registering a 98 percent winning percentage in nine decades of action, the Globetrotters don’t leave much room for surprise — although they have been defeated 345 times. Their brand of basketball is unquestionably fun for fans of hardwood amusement. Filled with tricks, jokes and interactions with the audience, the Globetrotters unique style will be on display for a 2 p.m. Dec. 27 tipoff at the Moda Center, 1 N. Center Court St., Portland; $15 to $87. 503-235-8771 or www.harlemglobetrotters.com/event/moda-center-2?field_date=2017-12-27.
