Letter: Players have right to protest

Why is it that when someone, especially a professional black athlete, exposes the duality of our current version of “equality” you-all riding the bus from the ’50s holler and whoop about a lack of patriotism and disregard for our military’s sacrifice? Are you saying these people are overpaid for their talent and contribution to the game and should just keep their mouths shut and knees straight, and to quietly stand in acceptance of the bus that reads “Non-Whites to the Back?”

It’s not a raised fist or turned back. It’s just a knee, to show a perceived status in our racially laced democracy. If you want to have a hissy fit about something how about those silly dances they do in the end zone, or go clean out the garage?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
