Relevant Coffee, a cafe and roastery in Uptown Village, took home top honors at the second Cascadia Cup Roasting Competition in Portland last weekend.

Roast Magazine reported that five judges and 150 guests tasted coffee from roughly 45 regional coffee roasters, who were then whittled to 25 finalists. Relevant Coffee earned the top honors from the judges, while Badbeard’s Microroastery in Portland was favorite among the guests.

Relevant Coffee opened its doors at 100 E. 19th St., Suite 500, in March. Owner Mitch Montgomery, however, had been roasting coffee beans for a few years prior.
