Letter: Represent.us offers hope

By Richard McCluskey, Vancouver

Thank you for your article featuring our Vancouver chapter of represent.us and their action to set a new standard for ethics in government (“Vancouver group part of national anti-corruption campaign,” Nov. 8). Represent.us may be our last hope for a return of government to the control of the voters.

The American Anti-corruption Act, written by the represent.us national team and available at anticorruptionact.org/whats-in-the-act/, is the guiding document for most represent.us action. The American Anti-corruption Act provides a solid standard of ethical behavior for our elected and appointed officials to adhere to in order to best represent the voters and legislate for the benefit of real people.

In an era of rampant legislation favoring big-money donors over the needs of average working people, represent.us and our enthusiastic Vancouver chapter of dedicated volunteers give me real hope for a better world.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
