Law enforcement officers converged on a Camas neighborhood Wednesday morning after a report of a vehicle theft, attempted vehicle theft and attempted residential burglary.

The Camas Police Department reported that officers were dispatched at about 8:20 a.m. to a report of a vehicle stolen from a Prune Hill business parking lot. En route to the call, police reportedly found the stolen vehicle abandoned on state Highway 14.

A short distance away, officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle theft in progress at the 5400 block of Southwest Sixth Avenue, Camas police reported. The attempted theft and an attempted residential burglary by the same man were interrupted by the homeowner, and the man ran away.

Officers from Washougal, the Washington State Patrol, Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Police came to assist. A K-9 track was initiated, but the suspect was not located.
