Jameel Morton scored 30 points but it wasn’t enough for the Trappers to beat perennial Class 2A power Mark Morris.

Fort Vancouver (0-1) trailed 27-25 at halftime, but was outscored 16-6 in the third quarter. The Monarchs outrebounded the Trappers 55-23, including 19-7 in offensive rebounds.

Fort Vancouver coach James Ensley said much can be learned from Thursday’s game. He wants his players to take not of Mark Morris executed fundamentals and did little things to win.

“We scheduled them for a reason,” Ensley said. “I wanted a test to see what we’ve got.”
