Letter: Nothing will change gun culture

After the Mandalay Bay tragedy, gun control is the hot topic again. Every local gun collector I know is worried sick that the government is going to come and take their weapons. Fret not, gun lovers.

One common trait I notice with many collectors is that they’re paranoid by nature — that is why they’re so well-armed. Most just want to be ready if, late one night when the family is sleeping, someone breaks down the door, intent on rape and murder.

My point is: relax, gun owners! No one is coming after your guns. It’s more than an obsession and much stronger than love. It is who we are. If Sandy Hook didn’t change things, nothing will.
