The big weather headline this week is “wet and wetter” as a series of weather fronts pass inland. The first one today was hitting areas north of Clark County with heavier rain, but some light rain will reach the ground locally. Northern Washington will get the brunt of these storms with 8 to 10 inches of rain in the Olympics and Cascades. We finally get a good soaking Wednesday night and Thursday with a couple of inches of rain through Friday. Snow levels are high but drop Thursday and Friday, perhaps down to pass levels.

It was amazing to see 27 inches of snow at Timberline over the weekend where two ski lifts were operating. And it was only the middle of October.

We almost reached that 70-degree mark under sunny skies Monday, with most neighborhood highs in the upper 60s. A nice day for the convertible top to be down, I would say. Saw a few driving around. Why not? Plenty of “have the top on” weather coming up! Vancouver dropped to 38 degrees early Monday with some outlying areas reporting yet another frost and freezing conditions.

Let’s review some rainfall from your friends and neighbors for September: Claudia Chiasson, Carson, 4.34 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground 2.48 inches; Rob Starr, Cougar, 5.38 inches; Phil Delany, above Dole Valley, 4.40 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, 2.46 inches; Bill Sobolewski, Livingston Mountain, 3.28 inches; Judy Darke, Felida, 2.20 inches; Larry Lebsack, Barberton, 2.31 inches; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 2.50 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 2.65 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 2.46 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha,2.42 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 3.48 inches; Pete Conrad, Tukes Mountain, 2.33 inches; Murphy Dennis, Rawson Road near Clark County Rifles, 3.72 inches; and our friend, Roland Derksen from the Vancouver up north with 1.85 inches. The official rainfall for Vancouver was 2.56 inches, one inch above average.

Bundle up and keep dry and we will chat on a stormy Thursday.
