Canceled race raises money for veterans center

Esther Short — Due to unforeseen circumstances, this year’s Paddle for Life race was canceled. The nonprofit event aimed to organize dragon boat races to raise money for local charities. Even without the race, the nonprofit still raised $14,500 for this year’s beneficiary, Clark County Veterans Assistance Center. The center’s goal is to be a welcome and safe environment to assist veterans and their families in obtaining benefits, services and resources to meet basic needs.
