Letter: Oppose oil terminal in Vancouver

By Albert O'Connor, BRUSH PRAIRIE
Published: October 27, 2017, 6:00am

I am opposed to the oil terminal for a variety of reasons:

1. I am very much opposed to the fracking method for extracting the oil. I believe the method has long-term adverse impacts to the earth.

2. I believe the oil will eventually be shipped to China.

3. The railroads are incapable of shipping the oil safely. There is a potential for a spill into the Columbia River.

4. We need to get off oil to reverse global warming.

5. The whole planning phase, including permitting, has not been transparent.

6. Electric cars are the future.

7. The money for this project should be spent on an alternative energy source.
