Law enforcement agencies will have additional officers out tonight to keep impaired drivers off the road this weekend, while the emphasis Tuesday will shift to pedestrian safety.

Halloween, and the adjacent weekend, is traditionally a dangerous period for impaired driving, according to a Vancouver Police Department news release.

A state traffic safety grant means Southwest Washington agencies will have additional officers for weekend DUI enforcement and a pedestrian safety emphasis on Tuesday.

The Vancouver, Battle Ground, and Washougal police departments, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol will have extra officers in an effort to keep impaired drivers off the road this weekend.

Vancouver police encourage anyone who may attend Halloween parties and consume intoxicants to select a designated driver, call a sober friend or use a car service.
