Letter: GOP doesn’t care about you

Last week, Republicans in the Senate voted to deny American citizens the right to sue predatory banks when they are taken advantage of. They chose to empower the banks more than they already are by overturning protections that were put into place by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Clearly, this was just the Republicans undoing yet another good thing that was done during President Obama’s presidency. Remember Wells Fargo because they and any other bank will now be able to screw you again at their leisure and your only recourse will be “private arbitration” that is overseen by the bank’s representatives.

In July, when the House voted, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, voted in favor of this bill. She is told what to do by House Speaker Paul Ryan.

The Republicans do not give one hoot about you.
