Letter: Be prepared, protect distribution

By Greg Flakus, Vancouver

I read that Houston Food Bank was unable to get any of its trucks in or out of the food bank to distribute food and water to shelters and other locations around that huge city due to being flooded.

It made me consider, how prepared is our food distribution system should we experience an event such as a major earthquake? We have in place a system of food box locations around the county that give out food to needy families, with the Clark County Food Bank as the warehouse.

Keep in mind, the Clark County Food Bank does not hand out any food boxes. It is the main hub for collecting major shipments, and the food box locations pick up and give out the food. The food box locations need to be prepared for such an event and ready to serve as best they can.
