Gabriel Dinnel’s first-place time of 17 minutes, 27.15 seconds over the 5,000-meter course helped the Washougal boys cross country team win the Skip Sparks XC Festival team title at the seven-school event Wednesday in Hood River, Ore.

The Panthers edged host Hood River Valley, 47-49. It also was a dual-meet scoring win for Washougal over Ridgefield, 26-29.

On the girls side, Washougal’s Amelia Pullen won the girls race in a course-record time of 20:11.99 on what coach Terry Howard called a tough course. The Panthers tied for fourth with Ridgefield in the seven-school event, but the Spudders edged Washougal in the dual-meet scoring.

Stars of the day

• Aubrey Stanton, Camas volleyball, posted 22 assists and 10 digs in the Papermakers sweep of Mountain View.

• Kellen Bringhurst, Ridgefield boys golf, shot a 37 to help lead the Spudders to a victory over La Center at Tri Mountain.
