Letter: Herrera Beutler not representative

By Richard MacMinn, Camas
Published: April 22, 2018, 6:00am

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, voted for the tax bill that gives more money to the wealthiest and will almost surely increase national debt by over a trillion dollars. Candidate Carolyn Long would not have supported the tax bill, given what she has said in more than one town hall meeting. In addition, Long will work to improve Social Security; we cannot say the same about Herrera Beutler, nor can we ask her face to face, which would allow us to gauge her response.

I want a representative who will support people before the party and who will talk to her constituents in person.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
