In the battle for first place in the 3A Greater St. Helens League, the Kelso softball team had the last say on Tuesday.
Jayda Speed’s hit to center field in the bottom of the ninth inning brought home Ashlyn Tamietti as Kelso won 3-2, improving to 5-0 in league play.
Prairie, now in second place at 4-1, had tied the game in the top of the seventh inning on Kylee Snider’s two-run home run following Carly Wentworth’s single.
Olivia Meyers pitched 8 1/3 innings for Prairie with seven strikeouts and three walks.

• Nicole Christensen, Skyview softball, went 4 for 5 with two home runs, two doubles and seven RBI in the Storm’s 15-8 win over Heritage.
• Katherine Kadrmas, Mountain View track and field, won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and long jump in a dual meet against Hudson’s Bay.
• Sydney Brown, Mountain View softball, went a perfect 5 of 5 with five RBI, two doubles and a triple in the Thunder’s 17-5 win over Evergreen.
• Sam Lauderdale, King’s Way Christian baseball, pitched a five-inning one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and was 2 for 3 with a double, triple and RBI in a 10-0 win over Stevenson in the first game of a doubleheader.
• Damon Casetta-Stubbs, King’s Way Christian baseball, pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 15 strikeouts and one walk and was 2 for 5 with two doubles and five RBI in a 24-0 win at King’s Way completed the doubleheader sweep of Stevenson.
• Aidan McGinty, Union boys soccer, had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Battle Ground.
• Bruce Erickson, Skyview track and field, won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 in a dual meet against Union, which Skyview won by two points.
• Irving Alvarez, La Center baseball, was 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBI, plus struck out four batters in three innings of relief as the Wildcats beat Columbia-White Salmon 7-4.
• Alec Watkins, La Center boys soccer, scored four goals in the Wildcats’ 9-0 win over King’s Way Christian.
• Ethan Wirchak, Ridgefield boys soccer, scored the match-winning goal in the second half of a 1-0 win over Washougal.
• Justin Lufkin-Quant, Mountain View boys soccer, assisted on two second-half goals as the Thunder rallied for a 3-3 draw against Evergreen.
