PORTLAND — Workers at a second Burgerville store will decide whether they want to join a union.
The move comes just days after employees at the Burgerville location on 92nd Street and Powell Boulevard in Portland voted to unionize.
Workers at the Gladstone, Ore., location will decide May 12-13 if they will follow suit.
Burgerville employees were in a celebratory mood Thursday, when the chain announced the vote.
“This is the right next move for us,” said Stefan Stackhouse, an employee at the Gladstone location. “People are ready to negotiate, they’re ready to be a part of history. They feel like they’re part of a bigger movement, and they want to support other Burgerville workers.”
In a statement, Burgerville said it has waived a hearing with the National Labor Relations Board and supports its employees’ decision to hold an election.
