Langsdorf nominated for USL player of the month

Fan voting open until 9 a.m. Monday

Mountain View High grad Foster Langsdorf is one of five nominees for the United Soccer League Player of the Month award based on his performance with Portland Timbers 2 for the month of July.

Langsdorf scored four goals at a rate of a goal every 71.75 minutes in July, and also added an assist as T2 remained in the playoff positions in the Western Conference.

The USL website is holding a fan vote until 9 a.m. Monday. (UPDATE: Poll is now closed. Langsdorf received 30 percent of the 942 votes cast. Fresno FC’s Juan Pablo Caffa led with 37 percent. Click hotlink to see results.)

According to the USL website, the fan vote will court toward 51 percent of the monthly honor with 25 percent coming from the USL Technical Committee and 24 percent from a national media panel.

The winner will be announced on Thursday, July 9. (UPDATE: Charleston’s Ataulla Guerra was voted Player of the Month for July.)
