Man killed, driver arrested after hit-and-run crash

BREMERTON — One man is dead and a suspected DUI driver is under arrest after a hit-and-run crash overnight in Bremerton, Washington.

KOMO-TV reports the incident unfolded at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday on National Avenue.

Police say the driver was believed to be speeding and under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he struck and killed a 26-year-old man.

The driver, a man in his 20s, took off after the crash. Police tracked him down and arrested him a short while later.

The name of the victim was not immediately released, pending notification of his next of kin.

National Avenue was closed at the scene for some time after the crash, but has now reopened.
