Letter: Herrera Beutler doesn’t serve public

As a participant in Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler’s telephone town hall last Wednesday, I was undecided whether she is out of touch with the challenges facing Southwest Washington or purposely misleading her constituents. Once again, she asked us to complete a poll regarding tolls. Her question? Can you change your work hours to avoid tolling in Oregon? The issue is not whether Oregon imposes tolls to pay for its roads (that Washingtonians use), it’s whether our representative in Washington, D.C., has any commitment to creating a comprehensive transportation system that serves the needs of Southwest Washington residents. Her misrepresentation of this issue leads me to believe she is more about politics than about serving the people.
