WOODLAND — Forest landowners in Western Washington are invited to learn about forest health and management at a daylong workshop at the Zumstein Family Farm near Woodland.

From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, experts in forest stewardship and wildlife habitat will teach attendees how to plan and execute management of their land. Hosted by Washington State University Extension’s forestry program, landowners and managers can learn about a variety of topics related to their property including forest health, weed and wildlife control, timber products, mapping technology and general security.

The information applies whether attendees own “5 or 500 acres,” according to a WSU media release.

“Presenters and exhibitors will be available all day to answer questions, and participants can learn how to arrange a complementary walk-in-the-woods by a professional forester, wildlife biologist or both,” it states. “Youth activities will be available all day.”

Registration costs $40 per person or $50 per family, with an optional barbecue lunch for $10. A brochure with information, driving directions and registration information can be found on the WSU forestry website, forestry.wsu.edu.

For more information about the field day, contact WSU Extension Forester Andy Perleberg at 509-667-6540 or andyp@wsu.edu.
