Letters: Washingtonians don’t reap benefits

I live in Washington, work in Oregon, and must pay Oregon taxes. What do I get in return for those paid taxes? An email from Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center, stated that this issue has been brought to court and the “courts ruled that during their time in Oregon, Washington residents reap the benefits of the taxation and therefore it is legal.”

What benefits do Washington residents get? They can’t get a resident hunting/fishing tag. They can’t get any state assistance (if needed). They have no say in how the said taxes are used. These are just a few of the many things that Washington residents are unable to get access to. So, how are Washington residents “reaping the benefits” of being taxed? And what is being done to ensure that the hard-earned money that Oregon takes from Washington residents isn’t used for Oregon’s personal piggy bank?
